There is a difference between love and romance. Romance, if not checked, may mean wasting time, effort and dignity. Islam teaches us to be truthful and realistic. The concept of love in Islam is very unique, when a Muslim loves something or somebody, it must be for the sake of Allah. Islam teaches us that marriage is the finest, purest and permissible relationship that should exist between a male and female; it should be the goal that they both have in mind. There is no room in Islam for illicit affairs or the Western vogue-word of boyfriend and girlfriend. The Prophet, Peace and Blessings be upon him, said:
"Three qualities, if found in a person, will help him have perfect faith: Having Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, as the most beloved ones, loving a person only for the sake of Allah and hating getting back to Kufr (disbelief) the way one hates to be thrown into fire."
Love is a fruit of piety....love without piety is mischief.

^not sure what I mean by the heading? Read on and you’ll find out!
Sunday 13th December saw the return of one of Easy Talk’s most popular events - the gatherings! By now if you are not sure what this involves, where have you been in the last couple of years?!?!? Packed with great talks, amazing entertainment, daroon food and not forgetting the infamous Brs Vs Srs quiz, we started the new season of gatherings with a THASHAIYA bang!
This month our guest speaker was none other than Ustadh Abdullah Al Hasan whose topic was ‘Deceptions of Shaytan.’ Are we living in this world with our eyes clouded by all the deceptions? Do we even know how the shaytan can lead us to be deceived? And more importantly do we know how to fight the shaytan? Are we equipped with all the necessary tools??
Br Abdullah Al Hasan mentioned 12 ways in which the shaytan can deceive us:
1. Making evil look good 2. Giving pleasing names to forbidden things 3. Casting doubt in people’s minds 4. Jealousy 5. Love of expensive clothes 6. Suspicions 7. Anger 8. Money & Wealth 9. Power and Prestige 10. Gambling and Drinking alcohol 11. Divining arrows / Soothsayers 12. Pretending to offer sincere advice (shaytan comes as a sincere advisor).
But fear not brothers and sisters for it may seem overwhelming, but this beautiful deen is always filled with help, mercy and blessings to help us strive to get closer to Allah (swt).
